“She’s the model of the future”, Charles James proclaimed as he styled Matuschka for a photo shoot in a sexy bustier in 1978.
Ironically this statement made 40 years ago turned out to be an astonishing prediction.

This footage documents the work of Charles James and four individuals in 1977 and 1978 at the Chelsea Hotel. Anton Perich, a New York videographer, had just launched his cable TV series entitled "Fashion Magazine" and what better way to kick off the fall season than to have Charles James, not only the greatest American couturier, but the world's best dressmaker showcase some of his most famous gowns on one of his favorite models, Matuschka.
